My husband works at the customs service and last week he had a really nasty situation while working. It is known in the customs service, that many people smuggle cigarettes in tyres of the cars or lorries. My husband and a colleague of his stopped a huge truck on the border and the driver of that truck seemed to be a little bit suspicious. He was acting really weird and he seemed to do everything, so that the customs officers would not search through his truck. But they did and found nothing. And so, the next step in such a case was cutting through all the tyres of the truck. The driver protested and he was even so angry that he cussed, but the customs officers were entitled to use all known ways, to find out if the were any smuggled cigarettes or any other things in that lorry. But if they were wrong, they had to pay for the repairs and this time, after cutting through all of the tyres they saw, that there were absolutely no cigarettes in them. The driver war furious and my husband and his colleague were very ashamed, but they couldn"t show it. They promised him, that they would pay for the repairs and that everything would be okay with his boss, because they would call him and tell him that there was a huge mistake.
